New disciplinary tribunal members
AS provided for in the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act, the NZLS Board has appointed 15 lawyer members of the new Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal, which comes into being with the new act’s implementation, now scheduled for 1 August.
A number are already serving on the predecessor tribunal, the New Zealand Law Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal. They are Peter Radich of Marlborough, Ben Vanderkolk of Palmerston North, Wayne Chapman of Wellington, Laurence Cooney of Ashburton, Anne Hinton QC of Auckland, Susan Hughes QC of New Plymouth, Judith Medlicott of Dunedin, Shelley Sage of Auckland, Mary Scholtens QC of Wellington, John Upton QC of Wellington and Owen Vaughan of Manukau City.
The new members are Gary Craig of Papakura, Jacqui Gray of Hastings, Graham McKenzie of Auckland and Brent Stanaway of Christchurch.
Laurence Cooney, Anne Hinton and John Upton, having each already served long periods on the NZLPDT, have been appointed for one year only, the rest for three-year terms.
