Another award for law student
Law student Jessica Kerr is one of eight people to receive a 2008 Fulbright New Zealand General Graduate Award.
From Omapere in Northland, Jessica will complete an LLM, specialising in the role of the judiciary at the interface between public and private law, at Yale University, in New Haven, Connecticut.
Jessica graduated with an LLB (Hons) and a BA from Victoria University in 2006 and has since worked for the Supreme Court, Victoria University and in her current position at Crown Law.
She is also this year’s winner of the Ethel Benjamin award (see LawTalk 709, 2 June 2008, p5).
Law will be the focus for another of this year’s Fulbright New Zealand General Graduate Award recipients, even though he is not a law graduate.
Rob Vosslamber from Christchurch will research taxation ethics at Boston University, towards a PhD in Commerce from Canterbury University.
Rob graduated with a BCom (Hons) from Canterbury University in 2007, having previously worked as a Chartered Accountant and primary school teacher. Although he will be studying taxation law, he could not be considered for an LLM because he does not have an LLB.
