Frequently asked questions - Landonline Stage Two (conveyancing)

Fees

Will it cost a one or two partner firm the same as a large firm?
The cost of a licence is the same regardless of how many are purchased. One licence will provide one link or point of access into the system. There can be multiple users in the firm registered against one licence, however only one person per licence can be online at any given time. A ratio of up to 5 users per licence is recommended.

Is there a possibility of a two-tier fee level for electronic and paper?
Yes, with electronic being cheaper. For example, the cost of registering an instrument as a paper dealing is currently $50 compared to $21 for an e-dealing.

How does the LINZ billing system work?
Each firm nominates an amount of credit that they want to incur. Accounts are sent electronically fortnightly. Any firm can generate a fees report at any time, either for the whole firm or an individual user.

Who pays the discharge of mortgage fee?
Same as now. The mortgagor pays but the lodging party incurs the charge on their account. One suggestion to avoid an exchange of cheques is to note the disbursements on the settlement statement.
